TVN Webinar: Content Hubs For The TV Station Group

As station groups continue their move into the cloud, opportunities for hubbing increase and amplified cooperation and collaboration among newsrooms increases. On July 16 at 1 p.m. ET, leaders from The E.W. Scripps Co., Sinclair, Ross Video and Sony Electronics will share how groups are making progress along that journey and the practices they’re honing along the way in a TVNewsCheck Working Lunch Webinar, “Content Hubs For The TV Station Group.”

“Hubbing for master control is now well established, with playout and ingest hubbing also well along the way for many groups, so what are they tackling next?” said Michael Depp, chief content officer, NewsCheckMedia and TVNewsCheck editor. “This conversation will look at how groups are progressing towards emerging regional hubs, how much production hubbing is happening and the potential cost savings being found in that.

“It will also explore how station groups and their sister networks are optimizing content creation and version, and how news storytellers see these opportunities,” Depp added.

Joe Walker, Chief Strategic Officer, Crispin — He is no stranger to broadcast operations, having started his broadcast career in his local NBC affiliate’s master control as an operator before joining his local PBS station as a broadcast engineer, with stops in production, traffic and IT along the way.

When he’s not spending time with his wife and two sons, Walker’s main hobby is classic car restoration. “I have a 1965 Chevelle that my dad and uncle built back in the ’70s, so it’s got some family history,” he says. “I like to tinker around and modify it with today’s technology.” While Joe doesn’t intend to race it, he loves taking it out on the back roads to see what it can do.
