VENANGO COUNTY, Pa. (WKBN) — Two Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) workers were killed in Venango County Wednesday afternoon.
According to the Venango County Coroner’s Office, it happened on Route 965 (Jackson Center Polk Road) in Mineral Township just — just east of Sandy Lake — around 2:45 p.m.
A report released by Pennsylvania State Police said a PennDOT vehicle was traveling east when the front passenger side tire encountered a malfunction for “unknown reasons.”
The vehicle then went off the south side of the roadway into a ditch and struck a tree, reports said. The driver and passenger both sustained fatal injuries.
The coroner’s office identified the victims as Robert Greenlee, 58, and Seth Baughman, 31. They said both died at the scene from multiple blunt force trauma injuries.
PSP said additional information will be released at a later time.
