Speed limit on I-465 in Indianapolis goes from 55 to 65 on July 1

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (WANE) Anyone who’s ever driven I-465 in Indianapolis knows it can be a bit stressful with the amount of traffic and motorists ignoring the 55 mile an hour speed limit. That speed limit is going up to 65 starting July 1 on most of the interstate.

During the last session of the Indiana General Assembly, lawmakers approved the speed increase. The speed limit will be lower in work areas and in the northwest section of I-465 where it meets I-865.

Drivers should watch for active crews completing sign installation work in early July. All work is weather-dependent, and schedules are subject to change.
