In a meeting lasting over five hours with 250 in attendance, North Arkansas Electric Cooperative (NAEC) hosted their annual membership meeting Thursday at the Salem Civic Center at the Fulton County Fairgrounds.
Sonya Wiles was reelected to the board with 54 percent of the vote with challenger Michelle Graetz receiving 46 percent.
Several presentations were given by staff members to update members. On the business of NAEC, a long discussion was had about the recent rate increase that has gone into effect. Representatives from Arkansas Electric Cooperative also spoke about their recent rate increase and the challenges facing all rural cooperatives. Several member proposals were presented during the meeting, with attendees given time to ask questions and raise concerns.
NAEC CEO, Mel Coleman spoke with KTLO News following the event with his thoughts on the proceedings.
