Man killed in Baton Rouge shooting near Plank Road, police say

BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — Police are investigating a Baton Rouge shooting that left a man dead Wednesday night.

Huey Sonnier, 53, was killed in a shooting on Navajo Street and Canonicus Street near Plank Road. He died from his injuries in the hospital after officers responded to the intersection around 9 p.m.

Police said detectives learned the shooting took place in the 2700 block of Calumet Street.

An investigation is ongoing.
