BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — A Baton Rouge woman is facing serious charges after allegedly stabbing her neighbor and slashing the tires of his vehicle at an apartment complex on Tuesday.
Deputies with the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office responded to the 10000 block of Mead Road, where they found a man suffering from a life-threatening stab wound to his abdomen. Before being taken to the hospital, the victim identified Geraldine Hunter, 37, as the attacker. He told investigators that Hunter lived in a nearby building and had seen her around the complex multiple times.
Witnesses reported seeing a woman in the parking lot earlier that day acting erratically and screaming. According to deputies, Hunter was later spotted near the victim’s truck, holding a dagger-style knife and tapping on the vehicle’s windows. All four of the truck’s tires were found slashed and completely deflated.
Witnesses said they saw Hunter approach the victim’s apartment. Moments later, they heard a struggle inside. The victim reportedly fled to a neighbor’s apartment seeking help, bleeding from a stab wound.
The victim told deputies that Hunter entered his apartment, locked the door behind her, and then stabbed him with a large knife.
Hunter was arrested and booked into East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on a charge of attempted second-degree murder.
