Written from press release:

ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind. — June 18, 2025 — An Indiana State Police trooper has been charged with theft, obstruction of justice, and fraud following a months-long investigation, according to a release from the Indiana State Police Bremen District.

Andrew G. Kocsis, 39, a veteran trooper with the agency since 2008, is facing three criminal charges in St. Joseph County Superior Court. The charges stem from a probe that began in October 2024, when an alleged victim reported suspected theft involving Kocsis.

Kocsis, who was most recently assigned to ISP’s General Headquarters in Indianapolis, is charged with Level 6 felony theft, Level 6 felony obstruction of justice, and Class A misdemeanor fraud.

Special Prosecutor James D. Luttrull of Marion, Indiana, filed the charges Monday, June 16, after a judge found probable cause. Kocsis is scheduled for an initial court appearance on July 8, 2025.

According to state police, Kocsis has been placed on administrative leave without pay pending the outcome of both the criminal case and an internal investigation.

“All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law,” ISP noted in the release.
