New Illinois ‘One Click College Admit’ program automates college application process

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WTVO) — A new law in Illinois will make it easier for students to be accepted into college.

The “One Click College Admit” direct admission program allows high school seniors to receive automatic admission offers at participating colleges by submitting their GPA online.

Students using the Common App would receive direct admission offers from colleges via email.

Public Illinois universities can set their own minimum GPA requirements, and if a student has a higher score, the college can reach out directly and let the student know they’ve been admitted, without an application.

The program removes application fees, essays, and letters of recommendation.

In an interview with WNIJ, Board of Higher Education spokesperson Jose Garcia said all state public universities are using the new program, except for the University of Illinois and the University of Illinois Chicago, which have chosen to reach out to students on their own, to encourage them to apply.
