Shooting at Brandon McDonald’s leaves one dead, suspect injured

BRANDON, Miss. (WJTV) – Brandon police said they are investigating after one person was killed and the suspect was injured during a shooting at McDonald’s.

Brandon Police Chief Joseph French said officers were dispatched to the McDonald’s on Stribling Lane just before 7:00 p.m. on June 16.

According to French, officers discovered the victim deceased from what appeared to be a gunshot wound. He said the unidentified suspect was also located at the scene suffering from what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

French said the suspect was transported to a local hospital for treatment. The victim has not been identified.

“This incident appears to be isolated, and there is no ongoing threat to the public. The investigation remains active, and further details will be released as they become available,” said French.
