Suspect in fatal shooting at Brandon McDonald’s dies

BRANDON, Miss. (WJTV) – Brandon police announced the suspect accused of killing a woman at McDonald’s before shooting himself has died.

Brandon Police Chief Joseph French said Johnterryes Dampier, 27, of Mendenhall, was pronounced deceased on June 18. His death was confirmed by the Rankin County Coroner’s Office.

The shooting happened at the McDonald’s on Stribling Lane just before 7:00 p.m. on June 16.

Rankin County Coroner David Ruth identified the victim as Kianna Jackson, 25, of Pearl. Her body was taken to the State Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy.

The police chief said the investigation is ongoing.
