LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. (FOX 56) — Small business owners in Laurel County have organized a week-long drive to get victims the supplies they still need over a month after deadly tornadoes blew through Kentucky.
The London/Somerset Disaster Relief Donation Drive, organized by Karenda Vaughn of Corbin, will run from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. June 16 to 21 to restore hope to residents.
“After meeting immediate needs in the aftermath of a disaster, the focus shifts to long-term recovery, including rebuilding homes, businesses, and infrastructure,” a flyer for the drive reads.
Vaughn told FOX 56 News the donations will go toward helping families from London and Somerset who are starting repairs on their homes and businesses.
Those wishing to donate items can drop them off at Finley Trailer Park in London.
Vaughn said the following new items are needed during the drive:
“Your contribution will make a difference in the lives of those locally impacted by this devastating storm,” drive leaders wrote.
For more information about the donation drive, organizers said to call Vaughn at (606) 321-0983.
