Kentucky National Guard soldiers reunite unlikely tornado survivor with Laurel County family

LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. (FOX 56) — A Kentucky family said it’s grateful after the Kentucky National Guard recovered their dog from the rubble of the tornado that hit Friday night into early Saturday.

The guard shared photos on Facebook on Sunday, May 18, that showed the dog being pulled from the rubble of a home by soldiers with the First Battalion, 149th Infantry “Mountain Warriors.”

The soldiers reportedly sifted through tornado debris until they rescued the schnauzer.

The dog was then reunited with a grateful family and got some love from rescuers in the process.

“We’re there for our local communities in all the ways,” Kentucky National Guard soldiers wrote.
