MONROE, La. (KTVE/KARD) — A social worker in a Louisiana youth detention facility has been fired and arrested due to an alleged sexual relationship with an inmate, authorities said.
LaCrystal Decatur, 38, of Monroe, is charged with malfeasance in office.
According to authorities, Decatur, a former Social Service Counselor at the Swanson Center for Youth in Monroe, is accused of engaging in an inappropriate relationship with a youth offender. An internal investigation revealed the relationship on May 13, authorities said.
Decatur’s termination is effective immediately. She was employed with the Office of Juvenile Justice since September 2024, officials said.
Decatur was booked into the Ouachita Correctional Center Thursday and is being held on $3,500 bond.
