1 charged, shelter-in-place ended in Saunders Lane after Boone County shooting investigation

Union, Ky. (FOX 56) — Deputies in Boone County placed residents of Saunders Lane in Union under a shelter-in-place order after SWAT team members and other law enforcement groups responded to reports of shots being fired.

Around 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, the Boone County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) announced that a large number of deputies had been sent to the area of Omaha Trace and Saunders Lane in response to reports of gunshots.

“There are no reported injuries at this time but the scene remains very active,” the sheriff’s office wrote. “All residents in the surrounding areas within Triple Crown should avoid the area.”

LATEST KENTUCKY NEWS:

The shelter-in-place order was canceled around 7 p.m. for residents in the Saunders Lane area. A person was arrested in connection with the investigation.

“More information will be released when appropriate,” the BCSO wrote.
