Man drowns near Flat Rock Park at Lake Brownwood

BROWNWOOD, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) – A 26-year-old man drowned near Flat Rock Park on Lake Brownwood this weekend.

Texas Game Wardens and the Brown County Water Improvement District Lake Patrol responded immediately Sunday evening, launching a multi-hour search involving divers. However, severe weather forced rescue operations to pause overnight. Efforts resumed at 6:30 a.m. Monday, and Massey’s body was recovered just before 8:00 a.m. on June 9.

According to the general manager of the Brown County Water Improvement District, family members said the man was not a strong swimmer and drowned after jumping off a pier. The Blaylock Funeral Home identified him as 26-year-old Tyler Massey of Brownwood.
