Rare albino deer spotted at Lake Brownwood
Hunter Blasingame got footage of the all-white deer grazing with a herd Thursday on the southside of the lake near the Baptist encampment.
Various online sources say albinism is rare in deer, occurring in 1 in every 20,000 to 30,000 births.
Albino deer also rarely make it to adulthood because their stark white coats make them an easy target for predators, and albinism also causes long-term health issues.
This is the only report of an albino deer being spotted in the Big Country recently.
