Jesuit 5-star DE Zyron Forstall doesn’t let spotlight serve as a distraction

NEW ORLEANS – Zyron Forstall quickly went from being a freshman year starter on the Jesuit defensive line to a five-star recruit. Forstall will be a junior this fall, has been grinding this spring and hasn’t even come close to reaching his ceiling.

“Things are getting smoother as I progress and get older, no one is too much older than me. Feel like I am able to get around guys better. Getting a little heavier, faster and staying on the field as long as possible when needed,” Forstall said.

“His get-off is as good as anybody we’ve seen, we’ve had,” head coach Ryan Manale said. “If he keeps developing and doing the right things, he will be one of the best that we’ve coached.”

Forstall currently holds offers from LSU, Texas, Alabama, Texas A&M, Auburn and more than 20 other programs. Despite the spotlight, he keeps things in perspective and has prioritized growing as a leader.

“Being the person that everyone knows and I want to elevate everyone on the team and have us all play like we’re five stars,” Forstall said.

“Even when we had young guys in the game there in the end, he was on the sideline and told them to get up and helped with coaching and that’s him growing,” Manale said. “When he keeps growing for the next two years, by the greater glory of God, you will see someone special come out of Jesuit.”

Through it all, Forstall credits his support system at Jesuit for his development on and off the field.

“Jesuit has taught me to be a man for others. We are all men for others. We have to win as one unit and it has taught me how to work together as one,” Forstall said.

“Everybody is here for him, everybody is watching him and pulling for him to develop,” Manale said. “We all have his back and we are all there for him. We have a lot of resources at Jesuit. He’s blessed to be here and we’re blessed to have him.”
