The Shreveport Police Department (SPD) will conduct a safety checkpoint, the effort is funded by a grant from the Louisiana Highway Safety Commission. In a press release SPD reveals the goal is to identify and ensure compliance with Louisiana’s occupant protection laws, particularly regarding seatbelt use.
Checkpoint Details:
- Date: Tuesday, June 10, 2025
- Time: 12:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
- Location: Eastern region of Shreveport
The checkpoint will not be limited to seatbelt violations; officers may also enforce other traffic laws as necessary. The department hopes this operation reduces fatalities and serious injuries from crashes involving unrestrained motorists.
SPD says officers will be fully engaged in their duties during this operation to ensure the safety of all roadway users.
