According to police, the incident occurred around 11:45 p.m. on Tuesday night on the platform of the Clark/Lake Blue Line station in the 100 block of West Lake Street.
Officers say the victim, a 42-year-old man, got into an argument with an unknown male on the platform but when things escalated, the argument became physical.
Police say amid the fight, the perpetrator pulled out a sharp object and lunged toward the victim, leaving him with a laceration to his right hand.
Following the incident, the person responsible fled the scene while the victim was taken to the hospital, where he was listed in good condition.
It remains unclear what led up to the argument and an investigation is now underway.
