Officers, along with EMS and the Petaluma Fire Department, were dispatched at 6:34 a.m. to the area of Grouse Lane and Quail Drive on the report of a non-responsive man lying in the road next to a parked vehicle. The man was pronounced deceased by first responders, police said.
Area roadways were closed down for an initial investigation, according to Petaluma PD. Detectives determined the death was not suspicious in nature, and there were no obvious signs of foul play.
The cause of death was not known as of Monday morning. The name of the deceased was withheld pending notification of the next of kin.
Anyone with information on the incident is asked to contact Officer Adam Wirtz at AWirtz@cityofpetaluma.org or call the Petaluma Police Department non-emergency number at 707-778-4372.
