1 taken to hospital after shooting in Baton Rouge, officials say

BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — A man was taken to the hospital after a Sunday shooting in Baton Rouge.

According to the Baton Rouge Police Department, police responded to shots fired in the 4000 block of Bawell Street around 5 p.m. Sunday, June 1.

When they arrived, police found the victim with injuries that were not life-threatening.

The victim told police he was walking home when an unknown suspect confronted him. The victim stated he did not know the person who confronted him and continued walking, according to BRPD.

The accused gunman, who was driving, made a U-turn, began driving back towards the man, and started shooting, the victim told authorities. He was shot once, police confirmed.

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at 344-STOP (7867).
