Lawo, swXtch.io Strike Pact To Tie groundSwXtch Into HOME Platform

Lawo and swXtch.io have entered into a memorandum of understanding to integrate swXtch.io’s groundSwXtch software-defined multicast overlay with Lawo’s HOME and Production Solutions, aiming to enable multicast IP networking across hybrid cloud and on-premises environments.

Broadcasters expanding IP- and cloud-based operations are looking for ways to move media signals reliably between facilities, private cloud resources and remote locations without adding specialized hardware. The companies say the integration is intended to provide flexibility, scalability and low-latency transport for live production, remote workflows and compact infrastructure deployments.

GroundSwXtch extends swXtch.io’s cloudSwXtch technology to physical, ground-based networks, providing software-based multicast capabilities and protocol flexibility without reliance on traditional hardware switches.

“Partnering with swXtch.io allows us to further enhance the software-based capabilities of our HOME ecosystem and deliver more agile solutions to our customers,” said Axel Kern, Lawo senior director of cloud and infrastructure solutions. ‘By integrating groundSwXtch, we hope to turn on-prem and cloud networking into a unified fabric, empowering broadcasters to handle dynamic production demands.’

The collaboration highlights two use cases being shown at the 2026 NAB Show:

  • Private cloud-based production with remote contributions: Remote sites such as arenas, town halls and mobile units feed essences into a local production environment orchestrated from a central site. Program-ready signals are returned to the main facility for output and distribution. GroundSwXtch is designed to support reliable, low-latency transport among remote sites, cloud resources and on-prem infrastructure.
  • Peak utilization and cloud bursting: During spikes like breaking news or major sports, additional compute resources can be provisioned in the cloud. Lawo HOME Apps run in the cloud with management from the main site. Media essences feed production tools including DSK/switchers, multiviewers and video processors, with IP streams returning program signals and visualizations to the main facility and finished feeds routed to distribution.

“GroundSwXtch brings software-defined multicast and hybrid networking directly to on-prem media operations,” said Brent Yates, swXtch.io CEO. ‘Combining our virtual overlay technology with Lawo’s open HOME platform creates new possibilities for broadcasters transitioning to IP and cloud-native workflows.’

Details about the integration will be available during the NAB Show in Las Vegas, April 18-22, at Lawo’s Booth C2108 and swXtch.io’s Booth W1377HS.
