The traffic stop occurred after a Santa Rosa Police Department officer saw a car with no front license plate driving near the intersection of B and 3rd streets in Santa Rosa around 11:20 p.m.
During the stop, the officer allegedly smelled marijuana wafting from the car and saw open containers of marijuana and alcohol in plain sight. Based on the evidence, the officer proceeded to search the car.
“In the backseat of the vehicle was a satchel,” Santa Rosa PD said. “Inside the satchel contained a loaded, unregistered, unserialized 9mm P80 privately made firearm, as well as suspected fentanyl pills.”
After finding the evidence, Santa Rosa PD’s gun-detecting K9 “Ghost” was called to the scene. Ghost allegedly alerted officers to a second gun inside the car’s trunk. The officers proceeded to search the trunk and found a loaded, unregistered, .40 caliber handgun.
The driver, 27-year-old Antonio Monter of Rohnert Park, was arrested and booked into the Sonoma County Jail for possession of a concealed firearm in a vehicle and possession of a loaded firearm in a vehicle.
Front-seat passenger, 25-year-old Michael Diaz-Fernandez of Rohnert Park, was arrested for possession of a concealed firearm in a vehicle, possession of a loaded firearm in a vehicle and possession of narcotics with a loaded firearm.
The back-seat passenger, 23-year-old Aaron Cade of Sacramento, was arrested for an outstanding felony warrant out of Sacramento County for a firearm violation.
