Hopkins County investigates potential measles case

HENDERSON, Ky. (WEHT) — The Hopkins County Health Department says it is conducting an epidemiological investigation on a potential case of measles.

The health department says the case has not been confirmed and medical offices and air were cleaned as a precautionary measure.

We’re told if the lab test comes back positive, anyone with a possible exposure will be notified.

Health officials say the risk is low for those who are vaccinated for measles. They say parents who have children too young to be vaccinated — or those who choose not to vaccinate — there is risk with a positive measles case due to it being highly contagious.

The health department says it will keep the public informed on its official website.
