Chicago police say the deadly shooting unfolded just after 1 a.m. in the 11000 block of South Ashland Avenue.
According to police, it all started after the victim, a 38-year-old man, got into an argument with an unknown male who was inside a gray SUV nearby.
Officers said amid the argument, the individual inside the SUV pulled out a gun and opened fire on the victim before fleeing the scene.
The victim, who has not been identified, suffered multiple gunshot wounds to his body and was later pronounced dead at the hospital.
Currently, it is unclear what led to the argument and no arrests have been made.
An investigation into the deadly shooting is now underway.
