
According to police, the man had been hiking with his family in the morning when he fell, sustaining a few injuries. Layton City Fire said that bystanders, including a nurse, stepped in to provide immediate aid until crews arrived. He was hoisted by Life Flight to the parking lot, then taken to a nearby hospital by ambulance.
The agencies that responded include the Davis County Sheriff’s Office, Davis County Sheriff’s Search and Rescue, Layton City Fire, and Life Flight.
“We’re grateful for the quick actions of bystanders and the teamwork among all responding agencies,” Layton City Fire said in an online post. “As a reminder, please stay safe while hiking. Be prepared for changing trail and weather conditions, and always hike with caution near water and steep terrain.”
