CHICAGO — Charges are pending against two people in connection with a stabbing attack in River North over the weekend.
According to Chicago police, the incident unfolded just before 9:30 p.m. on Sunday night in the 700 block of North State Street.
The incident allegedly began after the victim, a 22-year-old man, got into an argument with two people, a 24-year-old man and a 17-year-old girl, as he walked past them on the sidewalk.
Officers said the argument eventually became physical when the two alleged offenders began punching the victim, which caused him to fall to the ground.
Officers said as the two people allegedly continued their attack, they pulled out a knife and stabbed the victim in the back. As the victim got up to run away, they allegedly stabbed him two more times.
Officers were able to quickly respond to the scene and took the two suspects into custody before beginning life-saving measures on the victim.
The victim was later transported to the hospital in critical condition.
Authorities say charges against the two individuals are currently pending.
