(KRON) — A man was walking on US-Highway 101 when he was fatally hit by a truck on Thursday afternoon, said the California Highway Patrol Santa Rosa Area office. CHP said it is unclear why the pedestrian was walking on the highway.
CHP said it was alerted at 2:33 p.m. of the collision on southbound Highway-101, just south of Westside Road in Healdsburg.
The man was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Due to the collision, the Number 2 Lane in the southbound direction was blocked and traffic was backed up before all lanes were reopened just before 4:40 p.m. Thursday, said CHP.
There were no other injuries reported.
The cause of the incident is under investigation.
