Fairfield police officers responded to a report of a theft at a store on Travis Boulevard at around 4:39 p.m. on May 10. Officers were informed that a man and a woman were in the store actively shoplifting.
Responding officers contacted the male suspect, and he fled the scene. While evading on foot, he dropped a backpack. According to police, the bag had 230 grams of suspected methamphetamine, a loaded handgun and $2,700 in cash.
The department’s Special Operations Team established a perimeter to find the suspect and located 44-year-old James Cargill. Fairfield PD said Cargill attempted to evade police for the second time after being found, but was apprehended.
Fairfield PD did not specify whether the female suspect was located or arrested.
Cargill, according to police, was arrested for a variety of firearm and narcotic-related felonies, as well as a post-release community supervision.
