
Chicago police said the shooting unfolded just before midnight on Friday in the 3500 block of West 5th Avenue in East Garfield Park.
According to police, the victims, a 35-year-old man and a 33-year-old man, were outside in the area when a white SUV approached and gunfire erupted from inside the vehicle.
Offices said the 35-year-old man was taken to the hospital in critical condition, while the 33-year-old man was hospitalized in fair condition.
Currently, it is unclear what led to the shooting and an investigation is underway.
It was the second drive-by shooting to unfold on the West Side on Friday night. Just hours before, around 9 p.m., four people, including a teen boy, were shot in the 600 block of South Homan Avenue.
Currently, there is nothing that suggests the two incidents were connected.
