According to a news release from the Indiana State Police, 30-year-old Michael Marr and 26-year-old Halie Thomas were both arrested on preliminary charges of:
Just before 10 a.m. on Monday, officers with the Indiana State Police, as well as law enforcement officials from the Miami County Sheriff’s Office and the Peru City Police Department, responded to a report of a burglary in progress at a home in the Woodland Hills neighborhood of Peru.
As law enforcement were investigating, officials said additional reports indicated that gunshots were reportedly fired inside the home by individuals later identified as Marr and Thomas. The release said that both Marr and Thomas believed there were intruders were inside the home.
As the investigation continued, the release said that no individuals, other than two children, were inside the home at the time of the incident. Multiple rounds from the firearms were found to have struck nearby buildings. No injuries were reported.
The release said that both Marr and Thomas were taken into custody without incident and were transported to the Miami County Jail. The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
