The shooting happened around 1:13 a.m. Thursday on the 7800 block of South Eberhart Avenue. in the Chatham neighborhood.
According to police, a 20-year-old woman was involved in a verbal altercation with a group of other women, when a man approached the victim on foot, displayed a firearm and fired shots at the victim.
The 20-year-old woman sustained two gunshot wounds to the face and was transported to University of Chicago Hospital where she was pronounced dead.
The woman’s identity has not yet been released.
No other injuries were reported. The offender fled the scene on foot.
There is no one in custody and Area Two Detectives are investigating.
