On May 4 at 2:08 p.m. New Castle County police were called to Simonds Drive and Pilgrim Road for a report of individuals armed with a firearm.
Police located the individuals who matched the descriptions provided by the caller.
As police were observing, one of the individuals placed an object into his waistband and then abruptly changed directions when he saw the police car.
This is when officers turned on their emergency signals and conducted a pedestrian stop.
The individual was identified as 18-year-old I’yon Williams. He was found to have a stolen handgun in his waistband.
Police say 19-year-old Gregory Williams was temporarily detained but was released at the scene.
The third man, 22-year-old Ian Berbick, fled on foot as officers attempted to stop him.
When police apprehended him, they found him in possession of a gun with an “obliterated serial number”.
During the investigation, police found out that the suspects had robbed a business in the 3000 block of New Castle Avenue and stole a victim’s cell phone, money, and car keys.
When police reviewed surveillance footage, they found Williams and Williams confronting the victim inside the store, displaying firearms, and demanding that the victim turn over the items.

Police say that at the time of the incident, Gregory Williams was released from police custody due to a lack of evidence, but after further review of the surveillance footage, he was positively identified as a suspect.
On May 13, he turned himself in and was charged with:
