Tuesday will feature a noticeable uptick in cloud coverage compared to the past several days, but it won’t totally be without sun.
A pesky upper-level low pressure system across the southeast continues to throw clouds and moisture westward, some of which will reach parts of the Chicago area leading to some light rain showers, perhaps a thunderstorm. The radar image from Monday evening shows you the breadth of this system, which has a nearly 1,000-mile swath of clouds and precipitation.
Temperatures won’t be quite as warm as Monday due to the increased cloud cover, but many locations will still top out well into the 70s, a level above the 69-degree high that’s typical on May 13. It will continue to be cooler near the lake as it has been for nearly a week now due to the persistent lake breezes.

Peak sunburn time at 1 p.m. is not quite as high as the past couple of days due to more cloud cover that’s anticipated.
