Louisiana native John Foster makes his way into Top 5 on ‘American Idol’

BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — Louisiana’s John Foster sang his way into the Top 5 on “American Idol” Sunday night.

Foster, of Addis, 18, started his night by performing “Almost There” from The Princess and the Frog for the singing competition’s Disney-themed night. He followed that performance with a rendition of “Believe” by Brooks & Dunn dedicated to his mother.

Joining Foster in the Top 5 were Breanna Nix, Jamal Roberts, Slater Nalley and Thunderstorm Artis.

Foster continues his journey on American Idol Monday night with a spot in the finale on the line. The five contestants will compete for a chance to be one of the three musicians who make the finale.

The West Baton Rouge Parish community continues to put its support behind Foster. The West Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office said, “You made us cheer, you gave us chills and you made it all the way to the Top 5!”

The Town of Addis referenced Foster’s performance on Sunday night when they said, “There ain’t nothin’ gonna stop him now… ‘Cause he’s #AlmostThere!”

The show’s finale is on Sunday, May 18.
