8 injured after SEPTA train crash in Norristown

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Pa. (WPHL) — Eight people were injured in a SEPTA train crash Sunday morning at the Norristown Transportation Center in Montgomery County 

On Monday, the National Transportation Safety Board will begin its investigation in the crash. SEPTA is providing surveillance footage and train operator communications to help piece together what may have caused the indecent.

SEPTA officials said the single-car train failed to stop before colliding with the end-of-line bumper at the Lafayette and Swede Streets. 

Four passengers and the train operator were transported to the hospital. One person suffered critical head injuries and had to be airlifted to Thomas Jefferson University Hospital.

SEPTA officials said the train was traveling at a low-rate speed when it slammed into the bumper, and significant damage was caused.
