1 injured, 1 dead in Jefferson County shooting

JEFFERSON COUNTY, Ala. (WIAT) — One man was injured and another is dead following a shooting in Jefferson County Sunday afternoon.

Just before 5:00 pm, deputies discovered a 40-year-old man shot on the 600 block of 3rd Avenue in Mulga. The victim was taken to UAB Hospital for treatment and is expected to survive.

A 31-year-old man suspected in the shooting was found shot to death in the same area as the victim, according to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies said a preliminary investigation suggests the suspect travelled to the victim’s home and the pair began to argue, which escalated into a shooting.
