PITTSBURGH, Pa. (WHTM) — A Pennsylvania man died in police custody overnight, authorities said.

According to the Allegheny County Police Department, Pittsburgh Police were called around 2:46 a.m. to Saw Mill Run Boulevard and Bausman Street for a report of a man acting erratically.

When officers arrived, the man attempted to enter the police car and was eventually taken to the ground and detained.

He had a head injury with apparent road rash and was pronounced dead at an area hospital.

County Police said, prior to police arrival, the man had been walking in and out of traffic attempted to enter a pickup truck at the intersection when the truck drove away.

He was dragged towards Warrington Avenue.
