Sand Hollow State Park: Exploring Utah’s most visited state park

HURRICANE, Utah (ABC4) – In Utah, we know our red sand is grand. And at Sand Hollow State Park, you can get in tune with 16,000 acres of sand dunes. And that’s just one of the draws to the area.

The thrill is what park visitors say they love about Sand Hollow, adding it’s the best of the best when it comes to land and water.

The area was designated a park back in 2003, and it gets plenty of love. Utah’s most visited state park is adorned with red rock, sandy beaches and a reservoir known for fishing and fun in the sun.

“We do have our adreline junkies,” says Sand Hollow Park Ranger Carlie Mallow. “We have wakeboarding, tubing, surfing and jet skiing, so there’s no way to not have fun on the water.”

Mallows add that on top of the four campgrounds at the park, there’s also 20,000 acres of desert to take advantage of, from scorpion hunts to catching a glimpse of one of 250 species of migrating birds passing through.

Sand Hollow really is what you make of it. But no matter what you choose, this is a sandbox that you’ll want to play in.
