Forecast: Mostly clear, cool and breezy; frost likely in western suburbs

A Frost Advisory is in effect from 1 a.m. to 8 a.m. Friday for areas west and north of Chicago. 

Widespread frost is expected and could harm sensitive outdoor vegetation. Sensitive outdoor plants may be killed if left uncovered. Take necessary precautions to protect tender plants by covering or bringing them indoors. 

On Friday, high pressure is in firm control of the weather scene as we can expect plenty of sunshine, milder temperatures and lighter winds following some morning clouds.  

Inland highs far away from the lake may see temperatures reach 70 degrees or warmer Friday afternoon while lake breezes keep areas close to Lake Michigan in the 50s.  

Note: peak sunburn intensity is at 1 p.m. and according to Dr. Bryan Schultz, the ultraviolet midday intensity is approximately eight times stronger than what it was on December 21^st.
