E.D. White tops Hannan 3-0 in Game 1 of Division II Select semi-final series

COVINGTON – E.D. White took care of business in Game 1 of the Division II Select semifinals, topping Hannan 3-0 on the road.

Sophomore pitcher Grant Kirkpatrick pitched a complete-game shutout for the Cardinals.

“I came in, had some nerves but not many. Came in the first inning and that got rid of them all. It was go time from there,” Kirkpatrick said. “I was confident on the mound to make my pitches and I’m confident in my guys to make plays.”

“Every time he goes out, he never tries to do too much,” Pritt said. “He’s really a laid back kid and if you talk to him he won’t say a whole lot. He goes out there, has that calm mentality and gives us a chance,” head coach Matthew Pritt said.

E.D. White scored three runs on just two hits in the game, similar to an earlier win over St. Charles Catholic this postseason.

Game 2 of this series will be played Friday at 6 p.m.
