VIDEO: Severe weather hits the Delaware Valley, including a confirmed tornado

(WPHL) — The Delaware Valley was hit with severe weather on Tuesday, including a confirmed tornado in Northampton County and pea-sized hail in Montgomery County.

Just before 4 p.m., the National Weather Service issued a tornado warning for parts of Northampton County. The tornado warning was canceled before it was set to expire at 4:30 p.m.

Footage shared by Joseph Martucci shows a funnel cloud moving toward Bangor before 4 p.m.

The National Weather Service has confirmed a tornado touched down near Bangor. A video shared by Kevin Bradham shows the tornado near homes on Washington Boulevard.

The government agency expects more information later this week after a storm damage assessment is completed.

Earlier in the afternoon, a severe weather watch blanketed most of the region. Video shared by Matt Flanagan shows heavy rain and pea-sized hail falling in Limerick.

There will be a chance of a few isolated showers overnight, according to the National Weather Service.
