10-year-old boy dies after gunshot wound to the head in NJ

(WPHL) — Police in Washington Township, New Jersey, are actively investigating after a 10-year-old boy died after suffering from a gunshot wound to the head.

According to police, the tragic incident occurred on May 6 at 2:34 p.m. on the 400 block of Westminster Boulevard.

Police and emergency personnel located the 10-year-old boy with a fatal gunshot wound to the head. Medical officials began lifesaving efforts, but tragically, the boy was pronounced dead.

Police say the boy was a student at Briches Elementary School. For other students and faculty at the school, counseling and support services will be offered by the school district.

As of this time, police say this is an “active and ongoing investigation”.
