CPD: 5-year-old boy dies after being shot in apartment on Chicago’s South Side

CHICAGO (WGN) — A five-year-old boy has died after being shot Sunday afternoon in an apartment on the South Side of Chicago.

According to the Chicago Police Department, the incident occurred in the 4400 block of South Greenwood Avenue in the North Kenwood neighborhood just after 1:15 p.m.

The boy was inside the apartment when he sustained a gunshot wound to the head, police say. He was taken to Comer Children’s Hospital in critical condition, where he later died.

Area One Detectives are investigating. No further information was provided.
