Ex-San Mateo summer camp employee convicted of child molestation
(KRON) — A former Boys & Girls Club of the Peninsula employee who allegedly preyed on young boys at a summer camp in 2023 is now facing a decade in prison.

Kevin Granados-Elizalde, 27, of Redwood City, told police that he was addicted to child pornography, according to prosecutors. On Friday, he pleaded “no contest” to felony child molestation. Prosecutors said the victims were boys between ages 7-8.

Leading up to his arrest in June 2023, Granados-Elizalde worked as an assistant site director at a summer camp held at Fiesta Gardens International School in San Mateo, police said. The Boys & Girls Club of the Peninsula’s free summer camp was for students between kindergarten and fifth grade.

Kevin granados-elizalde’s mugshot was provided by the san mateo police department.

Prosecutors said Granados-Elizalde took an 8-year-old boy into a bathroom, ordered the boy to take off his clothing, and took photographs of the boy’s body. In another incident, Granados-Elizalde repeated the same crime against a 7-year-old boy in a bathroom.

After the 8-year-old boy told his mother about what happened, she called police. Investigators said they found pornographic videos containing images of children on Granados-Elizalde’s cellphone.

On Friday, Granados-Elizalde entered a plea deal with a San Mateo County judge in exchange for a 10-year prison sentence, according to the district attorney’s office. Prosecutors had sought a 12-year sentence.

The convicted child molester will be held in jail without bail until his sentencing hearing on July 14.
