ETBU baseball walks away victors of the ASC tournament

MARSHALL, TX (KTAL/KMSS) — On Sunday, ETBU baseball hosted LeTourneau in the American Southwest Conference championship game. The Tigers got off to a hot start, but the Yellowjackets clawed back and made it a close game.

In the bottom of the first, Joaquin Costa got things started will a two-run homerun out to left field.

In the second, Luke Bumpus brought in a run on an RBI single and then shortly after Dylan Burnaman stole home to put the Tigers up 4-0.

Then in the third inning, Connor Massimini blasted one over the left field wall, bumping the lead up to 5-0.

ETBU put up three more runs in the fourth and another in the sixth inning, giving the Tigers as much of as a nine-run lead going into the eighth. But the Yellowjackets clawed their way back, making some offense happen and putting up two runs in the eighth and six in the ninth to make it a 9-8 game.

But that was all they could do. ETBU held on to win the game and the conference championship title.
