According to troopers, the crash occurred around 10:46 p.m. on May 3 near 151 Hooper Road, close to Louisiana Highway 3225. The preliminary investigation revealed that a 2005 Honda motorcycle, driven by Alijah F. Johnson, was traveling eastbound on Hooper Road when, for reasons still under investigation, the motorcycle crossed the center lines and exited the roadway into the westbound ditch.
Johnson was ejected from the vehicle and sustained severe injuries. He was transported to a local hospital where he later died from his injuries.
Routine toxicology samples were taken and will be submitted for analysis as the investigation continues.
State Police reminded the public of the importance of motorcycle safety training, encouraging all riders to complete an approved motorcycle safety course. These courses are designed to teach safe riding practices and strategies that may reduce the risk of injury in the event of a crash.
