CHICAGO — Police have confirmed that the man in custody for the sexual assault of a woman in Rogers Park is a person of interest in a string of sex assaults in West Ridge.

According to CPD, a 21-year-old woman was walking in a gangway on the 1800 block of West Lunt Avenue around 11 p.m. Thursday, when a 19-year-old man approached her, pulled out a knife and sexually assaulted her. The man then fled the scene.

Shortly after, the woman contacted police and was transported to St. Francis Hospital where she was being evaluated for injuries, she is listed in good condition.

Police said responding officers were able to place a 19-year-old man in custody.
