Chicago man charged with 16 felony counts in connection to five sexual assaults on city’s North Side, CPD announces

CHICAGO — A Chicago man has been charged with multiple felonies for allegedly sexually assaulting five women over two separate years on the city’s North Side, the Chicago Police Department announced late Monday morning.

Chakib Mansour Khodja, 36, is charged with a total of 16 felony counts and two misdemeanor counts after being identified as the offender alleged to have committed the sexual assaults in 2022 and 2025 in the Logan Square, Lake View and Avondale neighborhoods.

CPD Supt. Larry Snelling and local authorities announced the charges in a press conference late Monday morning, calling Khodja a predator who’s now off the streets.

According to police, Khodja was arrested on Friday (April 4) in the 10000 block of West O’Hare Street, at O’Hare International Airport. Snelling said Khodja was returning to the area from out of town when he was taken into custody.

“This man was a violent serial predator who literally went out hunting for his victims,” Cook County State’s Attorney Eileen O’Neill Burke said. “It was only through the dogged police work (that he was arrested). They didn’t give up. They kept investigating for three years.

“And they found him.”

Khodja was taken into custody and charged in connection with multiple sex crimes on the following dates, at the following locations, and against the following victims (who are not being identified by name):

• May 7, 2022: 2000 block of North Humboldt Boulevard (Logan Square), 36-year-old female.
• July 15, 2022: 800 block of West Wellington Avenue (Lake View), 21-year-old female.
• Jan. 18, 2025: 2800 West Bloomingdale Avenue (Logan Square), 36-year-old female.
• Jan. 22, 2025: 2800 North Central Park Avenue (Avondale), 21-year-old female.
• Feb. 2, 2025: 2600 block of North Troy Street (Logan Square), 21-year-old female.

Khodja has been charged with the following:

• Three felony counts of aggravated criminal sexual assault/weapon.
• Two felony counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse/weapon.
• Two felony counts of aggravated criminal sexual assault/bodily harm.
• Two felony counts of aggravated kidnapping/armed.
• One felony count of aggravated criminal sexual abuse/bodily harm.
• One felony count of aggravated kidnapping-inflict harm.
• One felony count of unlawful restraint.
• One felony count of attempt-aggravated battery/strangle/dangerous instrument.
• One felony count of attempt-kidnapping-secretly confine.
• One felony count of attempt-home invasion/cause injury.
• One felony count of attempt-home invasion/dangerous weapon.
• One misdemeanor count of public indecency/lewd exposure.
• One misdemeanor count of public indecency/sex conduct.

Khodja was scheduled to be in Cook County Court on Monday.

With this arrest, police are also asking any other possible sexual assault survivors to get in contact with them by calling the Chicago Rape Crisis Hotline at 888-293-2080.

“Although the (alleged) offender is in custody, we know there is still a long road for the women as these cases are prosecuted,” Snelling said. “We stand with the survivors and all survivors of sexual violence and sexual assault.”
