ISP: 12-year-old hurt in shooting on I-465 in Beech Grove, 2 more injured in crash
BEECH GROVE, Ind. — Four victims, including a 12-year-old and a young baby, have been taken to the hospital after a shooting incident and subsequent crash on I-465 in Beech Grove.

Police were called around 1:35 p.m. Friday to the westbound lanes of 465 near the Emerson Avenue exit for a shooting that happened on the interstate.

According to Indiana State Police, a 12-year-old victim riding in a car was hurt in the shooting. That juvenile has been taken to Riley Children’s Hospital in an unknown condition.

Police said that a young baby, who was in the car with the 12-year-old victim, was also taken to the hospital for a checkup. It is not believed that the baby was hurt in the shooting.

State Police is reportedly speaking with a “person of interest” and believes that all involved parties are accounted for.

Police said that, after the shooting happened, a driver on Emerson heard the gunshots and lost control of their car. This resulted in a crash that sent two people to the hospital for treatment.

ISP officials said that I-465 is currently open with no lane closures, but that the westbound ramp to Emerson is closed as investigators work the crash scene.
